Story

Our Family Challenge: We are fund raising for The Christie UK. In summer 2019 the Wotherspoon family are taking on the challenge to kayak around the perimeter of the Isle of Arran to raise money for The Christie UK (60-100 nautical miles). Norma Wotherspoon (Ninni), sadly passed away on the 23/11/2018 from Cancer of Kidney Cancer. This is the families way of saying thank you to The Christie UK for all their amazing help and support they gave to Norma and the whole family during the last two weeks of Norma’s life. We discussed this challenge with Ninni and she was very excited about it, hoping to be there to see us complete the grueling task. Whilst this is a challenge primarily to help aid beating Cancer it is also an opportunity to work together as a family to take in our amazing world, appreciate nature, spend time together as a family, reflect on how important it is to do the things you love, be kind and make the most of the life we have been given. The Wotherspoons like to call it ‘The Ninni way’. Oliver and his son Noah aged 10 aim to kayak their way around the island to achieve the circumnavigation of the island. Daughter Sunni aged 8 and mother Tamsin will follow the boat around the island setting up the bivi camp and documenting the trip in the form of painting. Alex, Harry and Lizzy will help their father Richard following in hot pursuit in the support boat, and safety cars providing support and sustenance until the challenge is completed. The evenings will involve fires on the beach enjoying a hopeful catch of the day, story’s of the challenges that took place and rest under the stars in bivis with the wee beasties. This will be a challenge of true reward. Please support us in beating Cancer and follow us on our journey of adventure.
